I’m going to talk you through what I did to track ovulation and conceive, this doesn’t mean it will happen right away. There are a number of factors you have to consider before trying to conceive like giving your body a rest before becoming pregnant for example if you have only just come off birth control you might want to consider waiting to have one natural cycle before trying. As always this is my personal experience and opinion I am expressing and please follow NHS advice regarding the matter.
For tracking Ovulation there are a number of apps you can use and devices, the app I used is Flo. The app was able to accurately predict and record my cycles and told me when I would potentially be ovulating. I then used ovulation strips in the morning to test.
Using ovulation strips can sometimes be difficult to get your head around so here is what I found out, the strip is similar to a pregnancy test the line will get darker each day you are ovulating and then fade. The easiest way to do this is to buy cheap plastic cups and place the strip in the cup to be able to see where you need to dip the test into.
This is where the diary comes in handy, rather than throw the strip away Sellotape it to the date you have tested as you could also test morning and night you will then be able to see the pattern unfold. You don’t need to buy a fertility diary you can easily make your own. I was 10 days past ovulation when I used a pregnancy test and found out very early on that I was pregnant. I recorded my cycle in the diary starting from day 1 of my period to when my period ended then my ovulation day 1 where I would Sellotape my ovulation sticks and then my pregnancy test strips.
I have a video on TikTok of when I found out I was pregnant, I could tell something was off and had decided to do a pregnancy test with my dog in the bathroom- which came in handy for emotional support! I was so excited and couldn’t wait to tell my partner when he came home.
I wish everyone the best with their conceiving journey !
