Pumpkin Patch Time!

pumpkin field

Today we braced the weather and headed out to Wroxham for a family fun day out. As it’s my sons first Halloween I wanted to go all out and go to the pumpkin patch and pick our own pumpkin.

As soon as we walked in the staff and the actors walking round made a huge effort to be welcoming and help direct people where to go. I took both the pram and his carrier as it has been raining the previous day and I knew we would be in the mud.

Wroxham Barns Pumpkin festival includes a free pumpkin for every paying child. The pumpkin festival has both indoor and outdoor aspects, great for all weather. When you enter the junior farm you can use the platform to walk across and get a great view of the farm.

You have the indoor play area on the right and if you keep going you enter the animal farm, we had lots of fun feeding the different sheep and goats. All the animals are very friendly and used to people.

You receive a leaflet on arrival with different activities and time slots for throughout the day so you are able to plan what you want to do and can incorporate it into your day. They have potion making, pig talks, den building and more!

The first thing we did was walk around the animals and feed them, I really enjoyed showing my son the different sheep and goats. One of the activities includes brushing the Shetland Ponies you can also play with the guineapigs and rabbits.

Pumpkin Picking!

We then headed over to the pumpkin patch, its quite wet in the pumpkin field and I would recommend wearing wellington boots.

We left our pram by the entrance and decided I would carry our son and my partner could then use the wheel barrow. You have your choice of wheel barrow (including a mini version for little ones) and we picked 2 pumpkins from the patch. I decided to get 2 big pumpkins for a Halloween photo shoot I’m hoping to do with our son.

After picking our pumpkins we headed over to the carving tent, we decided to hollow out our pumpkins here to help us carry them to the car where we’d carve the rest later at home. They have benches and all the equipment you need to carve your pumpkins in the tent and staff to help if you need it.

Once we’d loaded the pumpkins into the car we decided to get a hot chocolate and walk around the mini maze with haybales and had fun getting lost.

We had such a good time and look forward to going again, it’s definitely suitable for all ages and as my son grows up he’ll be able to do more and more each year. They even have rides to go on and a mini gold course in the junior farm fun park!
