Recently all I have been seeing on social media is Christmas Eve boxes, I’ve seen loads of lovely ideas but not many including books to read with babies or young children. I got really excited seeing all the Christmas books in our local library on display and decided to read a few to my son.
With the pressure of buying new gifts and having the latest thing books are often forgotten, however reading to your baby has such positive effects on them that I try to read to my son once a day. I am so excited to celebrate my babies first Christmas that reading a Christmas story each day is a lovely way to lead up to it.

Favorite Christmas book so far…
My son’s favorite so far “Is it Christmas yet?” is a wonderful book about preparing for Christmas together and a baby bear wondering when Christmas starts, the parent and child like bond will make any parent smile. Wonderfully illustrated it kept his attention the whole way through with this cute bear preparing story.
My favorite so far is Tom Fletcher’s “There’s an elf in your book” having loved and bought the witch halloween book, I was excited to find another in the series. His books have an action for the child to perform on each page, whilst my son can’t understand this yet he got very excited watching me do each one and read the story to him.
A bit about each Christmas book
If you are looking for a personalized book we were gifted “Santa is coming to Norwich” last year and loved it as it is based around whatever city you choose. It was nice to see Santa around Norwich landmarks and i’m looking forward to my son being able to recognize where Santa has been in the book.
“Dear Santa” is a lift the flaps book where you get to see what present Santa has sent, my son loves books where you lift the flap or where you have to move something in the book. Dear Santa is a sweet short board book which is easily a festive favorite.
Firstly “Jingle Jingle” has a fun fact on each page with a pull tab for babies to play with, this book explores the magic of Christmas. A lovely little read for when your baby still has energy to play but you’d like to read together.
“That’s not my Christmas tree” very quickly went viral with mum’s buying it on TikTok and I can see why. You follow a little mouse on a Christmas journey of twinkly lights and Christmas fun. Its a very beautiful book that my son really enjoyed.
“Merry Christmas” This touch and feel book is a perfect stocking filler for a baby, with different textures and images for baby to touch and feel it’s a big hit with my son.
” ‘Twas the night before Christmas” is full of fairies dancing and tabs to make reindeer fly this magical book is a great idea for a Christmas eve box . Your baby can help Santa come down the chimney and help the reindeer fly among the catchy rhythm of the book.
I hope this helps with stocking fillers or gifts for babies that are sure to make them smile.
