Blogmas Day 8: Garden Centre Fun

Animatronics Reindeer

A cheap and easy day out with a little one is to head out to a garden centre, we decided to go to Sprowston Garden Centre and have a look around the Christmas section.

The garden centre has turned into a winter wonderland, it’s an absolute sensory experience for little ones. We had so much fun going around the different sections and the staff are so friendly and even took a photo of us by the polar bears.

The garden centre is split into colour schemes which range from pink fairy princess to silver starlight. With lots of staging areas, it is easy to see the decorations inside and outside your home.

Memories in Garden Centres at Christmas

I love going to the garden centre at Christmas, we’d go every year to pick out lights or new decorations and always get our tree. Since moving out of my family home we now have an artificial tree, I still like looking at real ones and smelling the pine as it’s such a memory-triggering smell to me.

I love to bring the tree home in the car and when I was little I was always in charge of making sure it was still in the car and that we hadn’t driven off leaving it in the road!

One of the many cool things we saw is a fireplace film of Santa and elves checking the coast is clear. I’ll probably purchase it in the future when my son understands he comes down the chimney, but it was really fun to see him react to it.

Theo enjoyed seeing all the lights and he became so excited by the singing reindeer which moved as it sang. Walking through was so lovely; I could see him looking at everything and being in awe.

If you’re looking for a cheap alternative to a light festival I’d highly recommend walking around a garden centre with your little ones and having a lovely few hours. I’m going to go back before December ends and I’ll also check out other garden centre displays around Norwich and the north Norfolk area.
