Blogmas Day 16 & 17 : Winter bug recovery

I went to bed on Friday feeling anxious and nauseous and unfortunately woke up at 5am to be really ill with a bug. After feeling horrendous and not really being able to move Saturday I’m finally feeling more human. As a mum being completely wiped out isn’t an option as you have to power through, thank goodness it is the weekend and my partner is able to take everything on.

I highly recommend going on the NHS website for advice to see if you need to visit your doctor or if you can recover from home. (Disclaimer: I am not nor do I pretend to be a medical professional, this is my personal opinion of what has helped me)

Rest and take it easy

It sounds beyond simple but we all know resting is one of the hardest things to do with a mum brain. It’s the most I have slept since prior to having a baby as I watched two films yesterday and the rest of the time when I wasn’t in the bathroom I was sleeping.

First Trimester vibes

It took me back to morning sickness and that feeling of pure nausea. I can handle being ill and having a bug so much better now thanks to the 1st trimester and I know my warning signs.

How to help feel better

After my body had finally decided to stop I immediately did my teeth and got in the bath. I fortunately got a few bath bombs from Lush the other day and the Snow Dragon bought me back from the dead. The blue water relaxed me so much and made my body feel better being in a hot bath.

I also cleaned my face and moisturised, I always find that my skin goes so dry when I’m ill so any moisturising I feel up for is a blessing.

Cosy pjs or really loose clothing is a must for when my stomach is feeling sore this includes being on your period. I got into my cosiest pjs and got back in bed.

My partner was lovely and got me some hot soup, toast and peppermint tea. I didn’t manage to eat much but I did feel better taking little bites throughout the day.

Drinking water when you’re sick is not fun I want to down the bottle but as I struggle to keep anything down I’ve been taking little sips often all weekend.

If you’re feeling up to eating try a form of soup or chicken broth to help you feel better as well as eating little but often.
