Firstly Christmas day is not far off so here is how I pack the car, what I’m taking with me and our plan to make it as easy as possible with a baby under 1.
Packing List
- Presents for my family
- Main presents for Theo
- 2x Meals for Theo as we’ll have breakfast before leaving
- Dessert for Theo
- Bowls and cutlery
- Bottles and formula including water bottle for Theo
- Nappies/Disposal bags/Wipes and Sudo Cream
- Calpol inc syringe and any medicine
- Teething toys
- Change of clothes for Theo
- Shoes/Hat/Coat
- Tommee Tippee singing Bear
- Sleeping Bag for Theo’s nap
Firstly the presents need to be divided up into bags for each family as we’re over my partner’s parents on boxing day so I don’t want to mix them up.
I don’t need to take the pram thankfully so it’s just his car seat in the car with his blanket. In the morning we are going to wake up and open our stockings and presents myself and my partner got each other whilst Theo is playing and having breakfast.
Now I’m aiming to wake up early at 6am so we can do everything an hour earlier so we hopefully get out the door by 10am and to my mothers by 11am. We’ll have the nappy bag with the essentials in, the presents, his sleep stuff and then maybe mine and my partners switches.
It’s not a long journey but as it’s Christmas I might get us some festive snacks for the journey to feel extra special!
Practicality
Being in a non-baby-proof house is always stressful now add in wrapping paper, plastic and the general chaos unwrapping presents causes and I’ll be surprised my hair doesn’t turn white. I was going to wear a dress but I’ve decided to take something I can crawl after baby in as I’ll need to keep him entertained for a few hours.
Lastly, the only thing left to worry is if I have forgotten anything which is highly likely but as long as he has food, clothes and nappies we can make do.
