Dog’s Birthday Trip

two dogs on a beach

Over the weekend, it was my dog’s birthday trip. We love to celebrate in my family, so we couldn’t resist getting her a cake and having a little party. I managed to time it so my son slept in the car on the way to the beach. We love Brancaster Beach and to then go to either the Jolly Sailors or the White Horse.

What to take with you

  • Towels
  • Water
  • Dog bowls
  • Treats
  • Dog bags
  • Ball and Thrower
  • Whistle
  • Potty
  • Change of clothes
  • Shoes for the beach
  • Snack
  • bib
  • Crayola mess-free drawing and pens.

Firstly, I love throwing the ball for the girls on the beach, as my son gets distracted as we walk along as he wants to look at every shell and stone. This way, the dogs get exhausted easily while having lots of fun, and we can still go at a toddler’s pace.

We didn’t need lots of entertainment, as I wanted us to keep moving so we could walk along the beach rather than sitting and entertaining my son. We had lots of fun playing tunnel, chasing each other and throwing the ball for the dogs.

Pizza for lunch

Next it was time for lunch, we went to the Jolly Sailors, as it is the best place on the North Norfolk coast for pizza. My son demolished the margarita on the kids’ menu, and I had a jolly goat, which is a gorgeous goat’s cheese pizza.

The staff are always welcoming and so kind at The Jolly Sailors, the dogs both got treats and lots of fuss, which they adored, a perfect place for a dog’s birthday trip. To entertain my toddler while we are waiting for food, I like to get him to draw or do some stickers with me, rather than put him in front of a screen.

I do think not using screens makes it a calmer experience and he is always excited to show me what he has drawn. If you worry about them drawing on the table, I use Crayola Mess-Free Colouring as a good alternative or sticker packets. A good packet to buy is the stickers where you make the faces, lots of cheap sticker packets on Shein that are around 2£.

On the way home, we stopped off in South Creake and got a cake from Sally’s, which is a little stall along the main road with homemade cakes. They are gorgeous, and she always has a brilliant selection for any cake lover. We chose a coffee cake and made our way home.

A lovely Saturday where the weather wasn’t too hot to celebrate my gorgeous dog’s birthday. Where is your favourite pizza place?
