Halloween Fun for everyone

Halloween is one of my most looked forward to holidays, I’ve really enjoyed different these different activities this year. My son is 8 months so we kept it quite basic this year, we did dress him in a pumpkin outfit and carve out a pumpkin from Wroxham Barns, see my post on the Pumpkin Patch!

Halloween Films

I love snuggling up for a film and eating some popcorn so here is my top 5 for child friendly films, please check the ratings. We tend to watch anything rated Universal together and save anything else until my son is having his nap time.

  1. The Curse Of Bridge Hollow (An original twist on your typical Halloween film)
  2. Kiki’s Delivery Service (Kiki a young witch starts a delivery service) 3/5
  3. Coco (All about the day of the dead) 4/5
  4. The Nightmare Before Christmas (Follow the Pumpkin King on his journey for more) 5/5
  5. Muppets Haunted Mansion (Gonzo agrees to spend the night in a haunted house) 4/5

Baking Halloween Biscuits!

Ingredients: 100g unsalted butter, 100g caster sugar, 2 eggs, 1tsp vanilla extract, 30g cornflour and 300g plain flour.

I make these biscuits each year and I’ve always loved how simple they are yet they taste great! You can also swap out the vanilla for another flavour like almond. I love to cut them out into shapes using stencils and then ice them. Sometimes I like to flavour the icing and also use different colours. For Halloween fun you could use green icing or black.

Pumpkin Puree

I’d picked our pumpkin based on size as I took a photo of my son sitting up inside in his pumpkin costume. When I realised how much flesh was inside I was inspired to try making pumpkin puree. I cleaned the pumpkin and while using a carving kit I got out as much as I could. I then chopped it roughly and put it in a baking dish with oil and lots of honey. View my TikTok on how to make it.

Pumpkin Carving

This year I wanted it to be super simple so I used a stencil of a bat and painted it black, I then drew the outline of a ghost and painted one either side of the bat for a super quick and simple, yet effective design.

Halloween Bedding

For Halloween this year we didn’t really decorate as unfortunately we’ve all come down with an awful cold. However we did find this awesome bats in the dark Halloween bedding from Amazon. What is your favourite Halloween decoration for your home?
