Blogmas Day 2: 10 Christmas Presents for 1-year-old

Present wrapped with ribbon

With Christmas around the corner people are starting to buy Christmas presents, but what would a 1-year-old play with or find useful? Below will answer that for you. These 10 presents range in price and variety from educational to sensory toys. These are my top 10 Christmas toys for a 1 year old:

Educational Christmas Presents

  1. Flash Cards Coming up with new and exciting ways to teach your little one words can be quite challenging but i’m really looking forward to using these when he doesn’t have as much attention to read with me. Perfect for a little stocking filler that you can play with right away!
  2. Can you find Santa is a wonderful Christmas present for a 1-year-old, if you’re looking for more books I’ve put a list together of Christmas books for babies. A book is a perfect gift for a little one that will get a lot of use.
  3. Crawling Crab My son loves this! This is a great main Christmas present for a 1-year-old or a baby that is just learning to walk/crawl. My son really enjoys chasing this around the room and trying to catch it when it moves direction. As a main present, you can finally drink a hot cup of tea if you put this on!
  4. Dinosaur pop up this toy is great for testing his motor skills as you have to push or twist the buttons to make the toy pop up. He gets really excited when he’s managed to do it and has even learnt from me that to do it again he has to close the lid down. This would make a great main present for a little one looking to develop more motor skills.

Montessori Toys

  1. Sensory Montessori toy This animal frame box would be more suitable as a main Christmas present, it encourages color recognition, coordination and so much more. This educational toy is bright but not overstimulating and is well-made.
  2. Vegetable stacking toy firstly this toy is great for colour and number matching but as well as being a stacking toy it can unleash your little ones’ imagination. This toy is useful for pretend play creating a garden or digging up vegetables. This stacking toy is a great main Christmas present for a 1-year-old.

Something to Chew

  1. Toy Remote at the moment my son likes to pull himself up on the sofa grabbing the remote, meaning he is very upset if we take it off him. This toy is a lifesaver. Doing a quick swap and he doesn’t realize it’s different! This toy remote could easily be a stocking filler and would give you a chance to watch a Christmas film without your baby changing the channel!

Bath Fun Christmas Presents

  1. Bath Crayons Anything that can keep my son entertained during hair wash time is worth it. Bath crayons are a great way to distract and draw attention away from what is happening. No more tears at bath time with these and it’s a great stocking filler!
  2. Wind Up Toys These wind-up toys are great for helping my son enjoy bath time and have been a game changer in stopping him from trying to stand up in the bath. These are a lovely little stocking filler for your baby.

My Sons favorite toy

  1. Now these Hide N Squeak eggs may not look like much but my son has had hours of fun and if I place him in his playpen he will make a beeline for them including the box even if it’s empty! He loves the eggs and gets really excited to play with them, as he gets older we can start using them to match the colors and shapes, but for now he is happy squeaking them and tipping them out of the box. Definitely a main present, get ready to be the favourite aunt!
