Toddler Beach Trip!

toddler on the beach

This afternoon I took my son and some friends to Sea Palling, which has one of the best beaches on the Norfolk coast. With two toddlers, we needed a beach where the walk from the car wasn’t too far and we had the option to eat nearby if needed. For a toddler beach trip, supplies are always needed and so is good entertainment!

Essentials

I decided to take snacks including brioche and biscuits, as well as toys to play with, including his truck, ball and spades which I keep in the garden. A toddler beach trip also means packing for what feels like a holiday. I took his coat and waterproof trousers to keep him warm as the weather has been rather flippant recently. I also packed spare shoes, clothes and his travel potty gear.

As soon as we made it onto the sand my son took off his crocs and decided he wanted to be barefoot running in the sand. He was so excited to see the beach and he really enjoyed the feel of sand in his toes. It was a lovely afternoon of taking it slow. We let the toddlers run round and chase the ball while we had a much-needed catch-up.

It was lovely seeing what stones or shells he found interesting and talking about all the animals that live in the sea. He was super excited to build a sand castle and to use his spades from the sandpit in the garden.

Sometimes we all need a little break where we aren’t dragging our children round somewhere fast-paced or having a high-energy activity. I think some of the best moments happen when we slow down.

It was a really successful toddler beach trip and I look forward to taking him back to play and maybe have a paddle if he wants to. Another wonderful idea I have been seeing is to get them to paint some shells they can pick at the beach, which I’m sure could entertain them for an hour or two.

As a child who loves to get messy, rolling in the sand was always going to happen! I look forward to another toddler beach trip soon.
